Uh oh (again) !

Georgia may be getting ahead of herself. Andy sneaked into the kitchen for just a moment, and while her back was turned this is what happened.

Yesterday crawling, today climbing the stairs. Tomorrow - bungy jumping?

Weekend in Normandy

She hasn't quite mastered crawling yet. She has been trying to go forwards, but succeeds only in shuffling herself backwards on her tummy. That's fine so long as she doesn't care where she is going, and so long as she doesn't back herself under the couch, like here:

She enjoys playing with the fridge magnets. Here is our facsimile of Entrecôte the cow, plus some Korean mask magnets that Papa got as a gift for talking bollocks about Europe to a bunch of Korean bureaucrats.

On the weekend we drove up to Jonathan's place in Normandy. We didn't do much except Barbeque, though Georgia got to try out her new paddling pool. She was a little unsure of it.

Later that night over dinner we realised we had made the mistake of leaving the upstairs windows open because bats started whizzing around the living room. The next hour or so was spent trying to chase them out (and trying to convince Andy to come out from under the dinner table).

Papa is off to Dublin on Wednesday to talk bollocks about the Irish economy with some Irish bureaucrats, and Georgia and Andy will come over for the weekend. So there won't be any more blog updates for a few days.

Fran's dress

Here she is in Fran's beautifully smocked summer dress.

... and a couple of days earlier, looking more mischevious than cute:

Uh oh !

Uh oh ! I think we're going to be in trouble very soon...

Here is Georgia with Isabella (Phil and Cynthia's progeny) at Café Beauborg, by the Centre Pompidou.

And she spent an afternoon with Laoise, playing and being taught the finer points of crawling:

"My head is this big...":

I'm not sure Laoise is really helping here:

Christening

On Sunday 17th, Georgia was christened at St James Church, Orakei. This has been the Spencer family church for many years.

Many thanks to Clive, the vicar, for performing the ceremony and for his wise sermon. Thank you to all the friends and family who shared the day with us, and for the lovely presents. Thank you to John and Susan for the post-match function.

Of course, a special thank you to Murray and Cliodhna who as godparents have bravely agreed to be responsible for Georgia's moral upbringing. We will reconvene when she is 18 and see how well you have done.

Here is the moment when Georgia was annointed:

Afterwards, she was shown round to the congregation. Georgia is grasping and blocking Clive's microphone, which I assure you is for reasons of stability and not a judgement on the sermon:

Special thanks to Kathy for leaving hospital and coming to the party just a day after she had given birth:

As usual, Georgia was happy to play "queen" while a dozen cameras snapped pictures of her in her beautiful christening gown. The gown was made for Andy's great great grandfather, on the Spencer side, and is around 150 years old.

Time for a quick costume change. This gown, which was made from a wedding dress, comes down Dave's family line.

Swimming

In Singapore on the way back, we took her swimming for the first time. She loved it. This is encouraging for the summer, and was a nice end to a terrific trip to NZ.
